Acetal (POM)

Acetal (POM)(polyoxymethylene, also known as Saigang) is a highly crystalline engineering plastic with excellent rigidity, wear resistance, and dimensional stability.

Finishing

polish

Used to remove slight burrs and improve touch; the appearance can be matched with clear acceptance criteria (texture/gloss/feel).

screen printing

Suitable for logos, scales and other graphic information; it is recommended to provide vector files and mark the location and size.

Laser engraving

Suitable for serial numbers, QR codes, permanent identification, etc.; please note the engraving content, size and acceptable contrast.

spray paint

Used to unify color and texture (matte/high-gloss, etc.); it is recommended to provide reference pictures or clarify color numbers and appearance requirements.

Why choose POM (acetal) for injection molding?

Overall balance (cost/appearance/performance)

It is suitable for scenarios such as prototypes and functional validation, making it easy to make controllable trade-offs between cost and performance.

Suitable for "universal parts"

When you need plastic parts that can be delivered stably and can be produced on a large scale, POM (Sai Gang) is one of the common choices.

Appearance extension space

The recognition and finished product can be improved through finishing such as polishing, painting, screen printing, and laser engraving.

Clear quote and order path

Upload 3D/2D files to quickly evaluate manufacturability (DFM), quote and lead time.

Recommended Applications

  • low cost common parts: Injection molded parts that are cost-sensitive and require stable delivery
  • Controllable appearance: Hope to improve appearance consistency and recognition through painting/screen printing/laser engraving
  • Need higher surface quality: Parts that require tactile and surface appearance
  • Prototype and functional validation: Used for structural validation, assembly verification or small batch trial production

Consider Another Material or Process

  • Extreme temperature resistance/high temperature long-term work: It is recommended to choose more matching heat-resistant materials according to actual working conditions.
  • Strong corrosive/strong chemical media: Material compatibility needs to be evaluated in conjunction with the media list
  • High appearance A-grade surface is extremely harsh: It is recommended to simultaneously evaluate the mold texture, parting line and spray coating plan
  • Complex undercut/multi-slider structure: It is recommended to do a DFM review first, and optimize the structure or dismantle parts if necessary.

Design and DFM advice (injection molding)

  • Wall thickness and uniformity: Try to keep the wall thickness as consistent as possible to avoid shrinkage/warping caused by sudden changes in thickness; use reinforcement ribs instead of solid thickening when necessary.
  • Draft angle: It is recommended to reserve a draft slope for the side walls in all drafting directions; the appearance surface/texture surface needs a more sufficient slope to reduce strain.
  • Fillets and stress concentrations: The internal and external corners should be rounded as much as possible to reduce the risk of cracking and whitening and improve mold filling flow.
  • Gate/parting line/ejector pin printing: If there are any prohibited areas on the exterior, please mark them in the drawings or notes, and we will give priority to optimizing the gate and ejection plans.
  • Hole location and assembly: It is recommended to mark tolerances and benchmarks for key holes/mating surfaces; please make a note if secondary processing (reaming/tapping, etc.) is required.
  • Undercut and side core pulling: Undercutting will increase the structure and cost of the slider/inclined roof; priority can be given to structural modifications (buckling direction, openings, disassembly).
